Curriculum action research can be seen a public form of practical discourses done bypractitioners systematically collecting information about curriculum practice. This paperargues that some action research has concentrated on the concern of self-service instead ofthe caring of broad social purposes. Due to the orientation of self-service, curriculumaction research hardly evokes public dialogue. To initiate the enlightened function of actionresearch on social caring around curriculum practice, this paper intends to interpret thenature of practice discourse, to analyze the phenomena of self-service orientation, and topropose some approaches for future curriculum action research.
